AMENDMENT OF THE PATENT OPPOSITION PROCEEDINGS
From July 1st, 2006, inter alia the following amendments of the german patent opposition proceedings are in force:
- The decision on oppositions is under competency of the GPTO again.
- Division of a patent is no more possible during opposition proceedings.
- Under certain circumstances, accelerated decision on oppositions by the Senate of Appeals of the Federal Patent Court (BPatG) is possible.
- Joining an opposition is subject to fee.

According to the department in charge of professional duties of the steering committee of the
German Patent Lawyers' Association, it is part of diligent professionalism of a patent attorney
